Proud Brighton Ballroom is an off-shoot of the Proud chain in London. Set in what used to be the Hanbury Ballroom, it has natural 20s Art Deco elegance, taking customers back to the times when men wore fedoras, women wore tassels, and smoking wasn’t bad for you. Proud offer a range of entertainments; their restaurant, with a menu created with their partners Absolute Taste and Head Chef Finlay Logan, offers traditional English style dishes using ingredients from the UK, with such delectable sounding plates as roasted Kentish squash soup, poached red mullet, chocolate fondant and English cheeses. However, the star attraction is the after dinner cabaret performance, which, depending on which night you go, can consist of anything from live music, to racy burlesque, club nights and comedy. In case you are worried about what to wear, it is a cabaret club so do dress to impress. Some go all out 1920's, some burlesque and some just sexy or smart - jeans and trainers tend to be frowned upon. After an extensive refurbishment the Honey is now Brighton's most up to date night club. Many consider it the best club but try it and decide for yourself. Its set right on the beachfront with a large beachfront terrace and is very central.
